Tech Scouting – High Pressure System with Flow Rate Control

Tech Scouting – High Pressure System with Flow Rate Control

401 Tech Bridge has a tech scouting opportunity available for High Pressure System with Flow Rate Control with specific criteria and requirements. The evaluation of technical quality and tasking is listed. Please reach out to Linda Larsen llarsen@401techbridge.org if you have any questions.

Collaborative Task Instruction (CTI) High Pressure System with Flow Rate control

Evaluation of Technical Quality: The evaluation criteria for this CTI is based on the proof-of-concept meeting the requirements specified in the tasking or by demonstrating a subset of the requirements with a feasible plan to meet all requirements in a future proof-of-concept or prototype.

Tasking: Conduct Tech Scouting and proof-of-concept demonstration for the following technology:

Hard Requirements:

Inlet Pressure: 4500 psi max
Flow Rate: at least 0.5 for at least 10s
Survive temperatures as low as -40 degrees F (calculated analytically during rapid blow down)
Electrical: our control unit output is 24 volts (power) and 4.2 volts (control). Current is likely not an issue, but good to know. There is a chance we could change our control unit to accommodate something else.
Unit must fit in volume shown below

Soft Requirements

Valve must survive up to 120F (estimated upper end ambient air temperature). We don’t want this thing to shut down if it gets too hot by sitting in the sun.
Unit must be as lightweight as possible.

Nice to know constraints:

Gas supply has volume of 1624 Cubic inches.
Line Fluid: . (high purity, several in line filters are in place to protect valves).
Outlet port on vehicle fixed at #6 SAE port. Will likely connect output of valve to vehicle outlet with #6 flex line but if there is some solution (e.g. fitting adaptor) that gets around this, we are open to options.
