NEW OPPORTUNITY!
Goal:
Identify an autonomous/robotic system capable of abrasive blasting, painting, and inspection of confined spaces.
Requirements:
- Capable of work at height within a confined space
- Efficiently removing surface coatings, painting, and inspecting material condition in confined spaces without requiring support personnel in the immediate work area
- Eliminate need for gas free safety and blast PPE for workers
- Allow for continuous, remote, visual inspection of the work area to monitor/prevent damage to substrate while performing blasting operations
- Incorporate rotary blast and paint spray tooling
- Enable recovery of grit blast media through same point of entry as blast operating area
- Capable of negotiating obstacles and the variable dimensions within confined work spaces
- Have a safety shut off
- Have a tethered recovery method for manual removal in emergency situations
- Be ruggedized to withstand many repeated operating cycles
Technical Considerations:
- Blasting system must be capable of removing 12-20 MILS of high solid or epoxy paint
- The current blast method if removing/prepping to SP-10 is with medium coal slag media
- Inspection system must be capable of determining a profile within 2-4.5 MILS tolerances
