401 Tech Bridge Highlights Tech Transfer, Research Equipment, During Visit With Senator Reed and RAdm Selby at URI

401 Tech Bridge Executive Director Christian Cowan met with Senator Reed, Rear Admiral Lorin Selby, and URI President Marc Parlange during their recent visit to the University of Rhode Island. Cowan discussed how 401 Tech Bridge partnered with URI to leverage Innovation Campus funding from the State of Rhode Island to locate a powerful x-ray microscope at the Kingston campus to expand research capability for faculty, industry and government collaborators.

He also briefed Rear Admiral Selby on how 401 Tech Bridge fosters defense innovation as a non-profit partner intermediary to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport and the Naval X Northeast Tech Bridge.

Naval X’s Tech Bridge program, which has 17 sites in the US and in London, including the Northeast Tech Bridge at NUWC, promotes the development of innovative technology critical for national defense and “spinning out” technology from the Navy to small businesses who will license the technology to develop commercial applications.

Partnerships with universities and the Navy are central to 401 Tech Bridge’s mission to enable accelerate the growth of businesses in Rhode Island and the region by providing opportunities to develop technology for commercial and defense applications.
